Providing healthcare in a prison environment can provide a solid foundation for any nursing career or an opportunity to develop your skills and knowledge.
Our teams work together, supporting each other in what is a dynamic and rewarding environment where no two days are the same. They take a holistic approach to delivering care to a diverse population, making a real difference in all kind of ways from health education to shared decision making.
Working with challenging communities offers real opportunities to enhance your skills and development professionally, all in a collaborative culture with our healthcare partners.
The four services we provide are:
- Planned Care
- Urgent & Wing Based Community Care
- Substance Misuse
- Medicines Management
Wherever you join us, you’ll be supported by training and development, and have the opportunity to develop skills in a wide range of disease and therapy areas as part of our move towards a nurse/pharmacy led service.
If you wish to remain in a clinical role, you’ll be encouraged to develop through accredited academic programmes, including non-medical prescribing. If you want to get into operational management, a management training programme is already in place. Find out more about working as a Nurse in Offender Health.
Non-registered team members can also take advantage of many development opportunities including the Nurse Associate Programme.
Pharmacy staff can expect training and development suitable to their roles and in line with community services. Find out more about working in Pharmacy roles.
