Where you’ll work
Our dedicated community nursing teams provide healthcare and support to housebound patients in their homes, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and 365 days a year. Community nursing is our largest service, with 281 matrons, nurses and administrative staff based in teams around Bristol, all focused on helping patients to manage and understand their health.
In this post, you’ll be based at our Community base in Shirehampton Medical Centre, but will also be at the heart of the action in the community, helping those in your team when required to help provide invaluable care.
The teams work in partnership with local healthcare professionals to improve the health and independence of mainly housebound patients with long term conditions.

There is lots of support available – every day, our nurses and matrons are supported by healthcare assistants and admin support teams
What you’ll do
This role will require candidates to operate on a rota, working variable days over a 7 day week service. You’ll be asked to work various shifts between 08:00 and 20:00 to meet the needs of the service.
You’ll manage your Community Nursing Team and work autonomously as a lone worker within the team, with extensive support being available from the Community Nursing Advanced Practitioner, Team Manager, GPs, and primary care staff. Leading a team of registered nurses, providing guidance being a key role model for them, You’ll alongside your provide a safe, effective, high-quality clinical Community Nursing Service, within patient’s own homes and other appropriate settings within the Shirehampton area.

What we’d like from you
We’ll require you to have an NMC registration and previous experience as a Nurse at a Band 6 level. In turn you’ll also be driven by the idea of leading a team and managing and supervising staff to bring about the best results for our patients in the Shirehampton community on a daily basis. You’ll also have good clinical knowledge, with understanding of physical assessment, acute, chronic and terminal illness, wound management drug interactions, and more.
